This PF200 is the first show car from Pinin Farina, created for promotional purposes to generate buzz and not intended for mass production. Despite this, six more examples, featuring both open and closed designs, were subsequently built. The seven PF200s exhibited slight variations but shared the iconic circular front air intake inspired by the North American F-86 Sabre jet fighter.
Debuting at the 1952 Turin Motor Show, the PF200 showcased delightful details such as side air intakes and six exhaust pipes. Setting it apart from its contemporaries, the soft-top ingeniously folded down within the body instead of behind the seats, maintaining its streamlined appearance.
Utilizing the chassis and running gear of the advanced Lancia Aurelia B52, the PF200 showcased Pinin Farina’s craftsmanship. During this period, Pinin Farina had not yet replaced Carrozzeria Vignale as Ferrari’s preferred coachbuilder, and its notable work was often seen on Lancia chassis.
